diy studded converse

What I would do without the internet – I wouldn’t have even realised that I needed these in my life asap if I hadn’t had stumbled across them on pinterest:

I quickly got onto how I could have some of my own. The studs were easy enough to find on eBay (just search pyramid studs) – I went for the 8mm size in a pack of 100 (which only set me back about $3). The shoes took a little longer. As I am on a budget I couldn’t afford a brand new pair – so I was stalking eBay for a second hand pair in my size to come available (but as they are white, they couldn’t be too worn in). A few weeks passed and finally I managed to win an auction for a hardly used pair for $40 – half what you pay for new. I received them in the mail yesterday and of course I got pinning as soon as I got home.

The process was fairly easy, as the canvas is pretty thin and puts up little resistance to the sharp studs. It is somewhat time consuming – but it was a great in front of the TV job. After an hour or so I had finished up all the studs, and both shoes:

I think both could do with a bit more studs (and I have another packet arriving any day now – I got slightly paranoid when I received the first pack that 100 wasn’t even going to fill one shoe) so I might fill it out just a tad more – but even so – I am pretty happy with the end result! Now to have a play around my wardrobe on how to style them.

Have you made anything from what you have spied on pinterest?
