new york tomato

Nearly the last post about the weekend I promise! It was full with blogable outings – mainly due to my birthday and the arrival of my new niece, and thus the arrival of my mum from Perth. The last of the outings was on my actual birthday – a brunch at New York Tomato in Richmond.

Melbourne had given me fantastic weather for the day, so I took it as an opportunity to bring out some colour. I grabbed my Asos maxi skirt that I had last worn quite some time ago and paired it a sleeveless shirt from Dotti, and a new neon yellow necklace. Apologies for the iPhone mirror shot – I need to do some investigating of where I can set up my tripod to get some better outfit shots of myself.

It took a while to get to Richmond, damn weekend traffic, but we arrived at the corner of New and York St’s (some cheeky town planning there) and headed inside. We managed to get a seat outside to take advantage of the beautiful day – which meant I didn’t venture inside, but apparently there is a much larger area inside and upstairs, so it would even be great to visit on a dreary Melbourne day.

The menu offered a refreshingly different variety of breakfast options (no Eggs Florentine here) and they were also happy to make any menu item vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free if required. I went for the freshly baked beans, which came with mushrooms, tomato, roquette, toast and poached eggs. My friend went for the baked eggs; mix grill which seemed most like a full breakfast, but served all in the one pan.

We finished up brunch around midday, and between the large meal and the sunny day I was feeling quite lethargic – a sign of a meal well done. If it wasn’t such a pain to get into Richmond on a weekend I think I would definitely head back (and try the vegetarian baked eggs next time).

  1. I loved your outfit here. that skirt and the sleeveless shirt look amazing together. I am on a diet, hopefully until middle of 2013 I will be able to wear something sleeveless without feeling dreadfully self conscious about it.
