work wardrobe
So on my 25 before 25 list is my task of overhauling my work wardrobe. In order to do so I need something to work towards – so enter my list which I compiled whilst investigating capsule wardrobes. I also came across this post over at the autumn castle and I had a light bulb moment – you really don’t need to have a lot in your work wardrobe, rather make yourself a ‘uniform’ and stick with it.
Using this philosophy I think I am going to stick to pants (as I prefer wearing pants to skirts) with blouses, shirts and tops – paired with statement accessories (either necklace, scarf or shoes). Of course I will have the occasional skirt or dress – but I don’t think I am going to look to buy any of these currently – just work with what I have.
Pants
- Black high-waisted wide leg pants – already have from Target
- Black skinny ankle grazing pants – just bought – from Sussan of all places, $79.95
- Neutral coloured pair of skinny pants
- Colourful pair of skinny pants
- Black tulip skirt – already have from Cue
- Long or 2/4 sleeved shirts in any neutral colour
- Simple sleeved blouses in a neutral colour, or in one of my allowed colours
- Basic cream, black and coloured 3/4 tops. I think supre is my best bet for these – I love the below colours:
- A striped top – already have, from H&M
- Black wrap dress – already have a few!
- Non black dress – already have my khaki flower dress I made – see here
- Black blazer – already have, but it isn’t a perfect fit – it is from Tokito
- Neutral blazer/jacket (thinking beige or camel or cream)
- Coloured cardigans (some short, some longer)
- Camel Trench coat – already have!
- Basic black pumps – already have from Tony Bianco
- Tan/Nude heels - already have from Tony Bianco
- Leopard print flats – just bought from Betts
- Colourful statement flats
- Patterned scarves
- Statement necklaces
- Belts, both skinny and wide (currently have a skinny tan and leopard, and a wide black belt)
